In the previous article I went over some of the differences between two Parkers that appear to be the same at first glance.
The P grade has a little more engraving on the bottom of the frame, as you can see by the close up view. The trigger bow and guard also have some extra engraving. The P also has a waxed finish which is a hand rubbed finish and was an option. One of the options that the lesser gun has is the ejectors which kick out the fired shells. This option alone adds about 33% to the value of the gun.

The V grade gun has a varnish finish which is easier to apply and is standard on most Parkers. Now that we can compare both guns side by side you can see the subtle difference. Even though the barrels are both 26" in length and the chokes are the same - mod and full. The difference of about $5.00 worth of factory engraving makes the world of difference in the value of the two guns today.

Rarity doesn't always equal high value. The fact that these small bore Parkers were made in limited quantity equates to collectors paying more today. High quality guns are higher in price but almost always appreciate in value at a higher rate than common guns of lesser value. The old saying "You get what you pay for" usually holds true with higher grade guns.

Remember, A serious buyer realizes the importance of seeking a professional when purchasing a gun of this rarity. It pays to hire or deal with a reputable auction gallery or firearms broker.
Good luck buying,
